The United States is choosing priorities to invest in transport projects in Cambodia

The United States Department of Transportation (DOT) is considering prioritizing investment in transportation projects in Cambodia, while the United States is currently in discussions with the Department of Public Works and Transport to explore the sector. Jiga Phat, Transportation Technology Technology Policy Analyst at the US Department of Transportation International Trade and Trade Bureau, said the meeting focused on technical cooperation in the field of transportation between the Ministry of Public Works and the Department of Transportation. Mr Jiga Phat said that DOT will further consider the priority points for various types of transportation, such as road, air, sea, etc. For the next step, he said, DOT will work internally and continue to talk with the Ministry of Public Works and Transport to select two or three more priority priorities to implement transport investment projects in Cambodia.

In response, Koy Sodani, Secretary of State for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, also requested that the US Department of Transportation have a model of cooperation model for key priorities for Cambodia.

It should be noted that through the above discussion, the US Department of Transportation also presented to Cambodia how to plan, design and develop infrastructure (financial plan, operation, maintenance, study, project feasibility), and sustainable infrastructure (vehicles). Zero emissions, resilient infrastructure, low impact, multi-modal transport connectivity (logistics centre) and technological advancement in the transport sector.
