Three More Solar Power Plants Set to go Online in early 2021

Three solar power stations will go online and link to the national grid early next year, with the construction of the three projects on average 90% complete.

According to the Director-general of Energy and spokesman at Ministry of Mines and Energy HE Victor Jona, the three solar projects are among four solar projects the Cambodian government approved last year.

“The project constructions are on average over 90% completed and as planned they will generate power in the first quarter of 2021,” said HE Jona.

The three projects are the:
1. 20-MW solar plant in Svay Rieng owned by Green Sustainable Ventures Co Ltd,
2. 30-MW plant invested Banteay Meanchey by Ray Power Supply Co Ltd, and
3. 60-MW solar farm in Battambang owned by Risen Energy Co Ltd.

To date, there are at least five solar power plants currently running in Cambodia such as the 10-megawatt solar farm in Bavet, the 80-megawatt in Kampong Speu, the 60-megawatt farm in Kampong Chhnang, the 30-megawatt facility in Pursat, and another 5-megawatt plant in Bavet.
