Nearly 700 Factories, Enterprises & Handicrafts Operating in Takeo Province in Sign of Economic Development

Takeo province, located in southern Cambodia, is home to nearly 700 small and medium enterprises and handicrafts, according to HE Ouch Phea, Governor of Takeo province at a press conference on “Success in the past 5 years of Takeo Provincial Administration” on 2 March 2023.

The governor emphasised that, in addition to agriculture, industry is also a core sector of the province’s economic development. There are 662 industrial locations, and the province plans to increase cooperation with other institutions to promote investment in this sector.

The Takeo Provincial Administration’s report reveals that the province has two large investment companies and factories, including two major rice mills in Daun Keo and Tram Kak districts and 83 large enterprises, employing a total of 56,377, including 44,002 women. Furthermore, 577 small and medium-sized factories and handicrafts are registered with the ministry and local departments, employing 7,645 people, including 4,653 women.

This steady growth in factories has increased the driving force of Takeo’s economy, resulting in an average per capita income (GDP) rise from US$1,364 per person per year in 2018 to US$1,526 per person in 2021.

The Takeo Provincial Administration is now striving to increase cooperation with other institutions to promote further investment growth in the industry sect and agriculture.
