Two Malaysian Firms Eye Investment in Cambodia’s Digital Sector

In a significant move for Cambodia’s burgeoning digital landscape, two prominent Malaysian companies, MMAG Holdings Berhad and NexG Berhad, have expressed their intent to invest in the country’s digital sector. Ongoing discussions are currently taking place between the companies and the Cambodian government to explore potential opportunities.

This announcement emerged during a meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and Datuk Hanifah Noordin, CEO of both MMAG Holdings Berhad and NexG Berhad, held on May 27, 2025. The meeting coincided with the 46th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, highlighting the growing interest in regional collaboration.

During the meeting, Datuk Hanifah Noordin conveyed gratitude to the Prime Minister and shared the companies’ plans to delve into investment opportunities within Cambodia’s digital security sector. Additionally, he indicated a desire to expand their investments into the logistics sector.

Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed this potential investment, underscoring the Royal Government’s commitment to the digital sector as a key priority. He highlighted the importance of the digital domain in the government’s development agenda, especially as the 7th National Assembly emphasizes its significance. The Prime Minister encouraged the companies to connect with relevant ministries and institutions in Cambodia to explore the feasibility of their investment plans.

MMAG Holdings Berhad and NexG Berhad are well-established entities in Malaysia, specializing in information and communication technology, with a particular focus on digital security. Beyond their operations in Malaysia, these firms have also made their mark in various countries across the region, including involvement in logistics operations at Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport.

As Cambodia continues to position itself as a hub for digital innovation, the interest from Malaysian firms signals positive developments and potential growth for the country’s economy. The collaboration could pave the way for enhanced technological security and improved logistics, further integrating Cambodia into the digital age.
