A Memorandum of Understanding, inked on 9 October 2023, paves the way for the establishment of Community Technology Centres within public high schools, with the aim of fostering digital technology human resources.

This landmark memorandum of understanding envisions three key objectives:

  2. Empowering Digital Education and Literacy: A focused effort to advance digital education and digital literacy.
  3. Nurturing Digital Human Capital: A dedicated approach to nurturing the growth of digital human resources.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, HE Chea Vandeth, highlighted the importance of this initiative. Establishing “Community Technology Centres” within public high schools signifies a significant stride towards enhancing digital education ecosystems, thereby propelling digital transformation across sectors.

The minister stated that this memorandum reflects a newfound synergy between the two ministries, signifying their dedication to advancing digital education and fortifying the nation’s digital capabilities, fostering economic and societal growth.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the MoEYS, HE Hang Chuon Naron, emphasised that the establishment of “Community Technology Centres” in public high schools would not only bolster digital literacy and numeracy but also seamlessly integrate educational technology into classrooms, schools, and communities.

The first phase of this project commenced at Hun Sen High School in Param commune, Bati district, Takeo province on 1 June. Takeo province’s high schools will follow suit in early November 2023, with expansion plans spanning the entire nation. (Read more)
