US$9 million Brick Factory Opens in Kampot

An automated brick and plaster factory has been officially inaugurated in Kampot province, adding more supply to the local brick market amid the rapid growth of the construction sector.

The inauguration ceremony was held on 22 November under the presence of HE Chev Tay, governor of Kampot province.

Located in Tany commune, Angkor Chey district, the Phnom Meas factory was built on over 40 hectares of land and is a joint venture between a local investor and a Chinese investor, according to the Kampot provincial administration.

The factory uses technology with an automated production chain, which allows it to produce 800,000 units of brick per day from local raw materials. (Read more)

HE Chev Tay said that the Phnom Meas brick and plaster factory is a large contribution in Cambodia’s economic development, particularly in the construction sector. It is also to generate over 170 jobs for local people.

As of September this year, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban and Construction approved 3,739 construction projects worth an estimate of over US$5.8 billion.
