Usd94 Million Renovation Starts on National Road No.11

PM Hun Sen shakes hand with Chinese Ambassador Xiong Bo

Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen this morning presided over the ground breaking ceremony for the re-construction of National Road No.11 and the bypass road connecting Neakloeung to Thnal Totoeung with a total length of 96.48 kilometres.

These routes will connect National Road No. 1 and No. 7, from Neakloeung junction in Prey Veng Province to Thnal Totoeung junction in Tboung Khmum Province. The route will be widened from 9 to 11 metres wide and will be covered with Asphalt Concrete (AC).

China Road and Bridge Corporation and Guangzhou Wanan Construction Co., Ltd are the contractors on the project using a total budget of USD94 million sourced from a combination of a concessional loan from China and the national budget.

With a completion timeframe of 44 months, the renovated and new roads will be open to traffic in 2021.

“This is a very important road connecting two main national roads No. 1 and 7. This road has always been attacked by flooding almost every year. This upgrade can prevent this road from flooding which will help ease the transportation of all motorists a lot,” said Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen.

PM Samdech Hun Sen also expressed his gratitude to the government of China that continues to support Cambodia. China has so far helped Cambodia in many sectors for example funding the construction of seven bridges across the country with a total budget of USD215 million. The Stueng Trang-Krouch Chmar bridge currently under construction is also funded under a concessional loan from China of USD57 million.
