In a groundbreaking development, researchers from Japan’s University of Kitakyushu have unveiled a remarkable breakthrough in construction materials—a potential replacement for sand in mortar mix using used disposable diapers. The results astoundingly reveal that up to 10% of sand in traditional mortar mix can be replaced with the diaper mixture, making it suitable for constructing columns and beams in three-story houses. In single-story houses, the proportion can be increased to an impressive 27%.

Moreover, this innovative technique has the potential to replace up to 40% of sand used in manufacturing mortar for partition walls.
