First 300,000 Barrels of Crude Oil Produced in Cambodia Ready to Export this Month

KrisEnergy will make the shipment of the first 300,000 barrels of crude oil produced from the Apsara well offshore Cambodia to international markets within this month, according to the Director-General of Petroleum at the Ministry of Mines and Energy HE Cheap Sour.

According to the DG, the total volume of the first shipment might vary from between 275,000 barrels to 300,000 barrels.

“At this stage, the ministry and the firm are working to check the purchase orders,” said HE Cheap Sour.

The five wells in Block A of the Apsara field have been producing oil continuously, receiving about 2,000 barrels per day, which is lower than the planned amount of around 7,500 barrels per day.

Regarding this matter, the Ministry of Mines and Energy has made it clear that the first set of oil production is not plentiful and will not provide any significant revenue that could change the size of the Cambodian economy. (Read more)
