Four Major Infrastructure Improvement Projects Set for Pursat Province

Pursat authorities are currently working on four major infrastructure improvements around the Tonle Sap Lake, including building a new drainage system, wastewater treatment plant, landfill, and flood prevention system.

Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Public Works and Transport Mr Si Vuth said during the site inspection on 6 May that the four projects have been running smoothly despite the pandemic, and are expected to finish as scheduled.

“For the drainage system, the company is now working on connecting the old network to the new network. As for the wastewater treatment plant, the team is working on testing the pipe network,” said Mr Vuth

“For the landfill, the company has completed the construction of the access road and is accelerating the work on pit digging. Lastly, the work on the flood protection system is still at the early stage as only some spots around the Tonle Sap have been excavated,” he added.

Mr Vuth continued that these four projects are the latest major infrastructure achievements of Pursat province after the completion of NR55 and the under-construction NR5 and NR10.

Upon completion, he hopes that Pursat city will not be affected by floods in the rainy season.
