Global Japanese Hospitality Firm to Open Luxury Hotel in Tuol Tum Poung

Japanese firms are increasingly interested in the hotel market in Cambodia reflected by the announcement of new luxury hotel in Toul Tom Poung area.

Okura Nikko Hotel Management, a subsidiary of Hotel Okura, announced that it will open Hotel Nikko Phnom Penh, according to a press release dated 21 December, 2018.

According to the press release, the new hotel will open in 2022 located on the upper level of the Japan Trade Center (tentative name) currently under construction in the Tuol Tum Poung area.

“It is a big honour for us to be able to be part of this project, an undertaking which will introduce Japanese construction techniques to Cambodia. We aim to create a hotel which will act as a bridge between the two countries, and imbue it with our signature hospitality, rooted in Japanese culture,” said Mr Marcel P. van Aelst, CEO of Okura Nikko Hotel Management.

In addition, the hotel will offer 201 guest rooms each with a standard area of about 36 m2 on floors 14-22 of the new building. It will feature a wide range of restaurants, including Japanese cuisine and all-day dining, and a skydeck bar on the 23rd floor where guests can enjoy stunning views across the capital.

Okura Nikko Hotel Management currently operated 70 properties around the world.
