Ground-breaking Ceremony for Mekong Key City in Areyaksat Marks a New Era in Cambodian Urban Development

The Cambodian government has officially commenced construction on the ambitious Mekong Key City project, a transformative satellite city spanning over 200 hectares along the eastern bank of the Mekong River. The ground-breaking ceremony, held on 17 December 2024 and presided over by PM Hun Manet, signals the start of a development poised to redefine the urban and economic landscape of Areyaksat.

Mekong Key City is a collaborative initiative between TP Moral Group (TPMG) and Khun Sea Group. The project envisions a vibrant, modern hub featuring state-of-the-art commercial buildings, waterfront shopping malls, educational institutions, international-standard hotels, and cultural tourism centers.

According to Mr. Khun Sengpheng, TP Moral Group’s CEO, the initial construction phase will focus on approximately 140 hectares out of the planned 210 hectares, transforming the area into a dynamic economic zone.

PM Hun Manet emphasized the project’s potential to catalyze economic growth and create employment opportunities for the local community. “This investment not only denotes a recovery in the real estate sector but also signifies our commitment to creating jobs and opportunities for the people of this region,” he remarked during the event.

Mr. Sengpheng further elaborated on the project’s vision: “We see Mekong Key City as a transformation of what was once a wasteland into a flourishing economic zone, driving growth and offering employment opportunities to the residents. The strategic location along the Mekong River, opposite the historical Chaktomuk River, will attract investment and enhance the area’s connectivity.”

With a total investment expected to attract substantial local and international interest, Mekong Key City represents a significant step forward in Cambodian infrastructure and urban living. Its location ensures seamless integration with major transport links, enhancing accessibility and fostering regional economic collaboration.

As construction progresses, the development is set to elevate Areyaksat as a key player in Cambodia’s socio-economic growth, creating a model of urbanization that combines modernity with sustainable economic potential. Stay tuned for updates as this transformative project continues to take shape.
