Cambodia’s Angkor Wat Ticket Sales Surge in H1 2023, Generating Nearly US$18 Million

In the first half of 2023, Cambodia witnessed a remarkable surge in revenue from ticket sales to the iconic Angkor resort. According to a report released by the Angkor Institute on July 1, 2023, the country earned an impressive US$17,877,418 from selling tickets to 385,769 foreign tourists during this period. This revenue marks a staggering 638.71% increase compared to the same period in 2022, highlighting the continued popularity and allure of Cambodia’s cultural treasure.

The report further reveals that in June 2023 alone, the Angkor Institution generated US$1,811,589 from the sale of 41,012 tickets to foreign tourists visiting the Angkor complex. This figure represents a remarkable year-on-year increase of 221.4% when compared to June 2022. The pricing structure for international tourists visiting Angkor remains at US$37 per day, US$62 for a three-day pass, and US$72 for a week-long pass, providing visitors with flexible options to explore the historical wonders at their leisure.

The Ministry of Tourism also released a comprehensive report, underscoring Cambodia’s thriving domestic tourism industry. Over the course of the first six months of 2023, the country welcomed an impressive 11.1 million domestic tourists. This robust domestic tourism activity complements the influx of international visitors, contributing to Cambodia’s overall tourism sector growth.

The surge in Angkor Wat ticket sales not only highlights the enduring appeal of Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage but also serves as a testament to the country’s ability to attract visitors from around the world.
