The Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology & Innovation (MISTI) signed a contract for the construction of a water plumbing station, water treatment plant, and water supply system in Battambang Province with China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) on 18 July 2022.

This project is a part of the Provincial Water Supply and Sanitation Project (PWSSP) financed by a US$119.17 million concessional loan administered by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) which began on 09 January 2018 and will be completed by 30 June 2023.

MISTI is the Executing Agency, which is in charge of clean water supply, while the Ministry of Public Works and Transport is the Implementing Agency for sanitation work.

The PWSSP project is being implemented in four provinces, including Battambang, Kampong Cham, Sihanoukville, and Siem Reap, with clean water work only implemented in Battambang and Kampong Cham.

On completion, the clean water supply plant in Battambang will have a production capacity of 50,000 m3/day and can distribute clean water over a length of 125.55 km
