MLMUPC Highly Commends CCA’s Remarkable Contributions to Cambodia’s Construction Advancement

Within 10 months in 2023, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction has issued 2,924 construction licenses for projects with a total floor area of 12,335,043 m2 and an investment of approximately US$ 5,109,471,023. There are 146 projects upstairs, equivalent to 154 buildings, housing projects and housing complexes, there are 79 projects, equivalent to 18,174 buildings and 18 multi-functional buildings.

This update was revealed by HE Phara Mongkol, Secretary of State, Representative of HE Say Sam Al Minister of MLMUPC, on December 6, 2023, at the “Summit on Annual Progress Report and Inauguration of Cambodia-International Construction Industry Exhibition” organized at the Koh Pich Conference Hall by the CCA. This data provides insights into the construction sector’s performance with a significant doubling in growth compared to 2022, signifying a positive trajectory for the industry.

During the event, alongside highlighting tax exemption measures for stagnant buildings in Sihanoukville and outlining the development direction of the Royal Government, HE underscored the pivotal role of the construction sector in propelling the national economy forward. HE emphasized, “With economic growth in 2023 projected at around 5.3%, it signifies a substantial contribution from the private sector.”

HE also gives credit to CCA for the enormous contribution in Cambodian development: “I would like to highly commend and appreciate the many achievements and contributions of the Cambodian Constructors Association (CCA) under Duke Pung Kheav Se‘s leadership, which reflects the success of both cooperation with national and international institutions, on work to contribute to the development of society in the construction sector through cooperation, respect, and implementation of the policies of the Royal Government,” stated HE.

Furthermore, he reiterated the longstanding perspective of the Cambodian government, stating, “The government has always considered the private sector as the engine of economic growth and plays a key role in promoting growth, socio-economic development, and labour market development.”

HE urged all relevant institutions in the construction sector to uphold professional ethics, and comply with construction laws and relevant regulations, ensuring the highest standards of safety, hygiene, environmental sustainability, aesthetics, and construction quality.
