MoE Validates 10 Activities to Transform Sihanoukville into Environmentally Friendly Multi-Purpose Economic Zone

The Ministry of Environment (MoE) has validated 10 activities within a technology action plan (TAP) of the Technology Need Assessments Project (TNA) to support the implementation of environmentally friendly technology for special economic zones in Sihanoukville, according to a validation workshop on TAP of TNA on 15 July 2022.

The workshop has validated 10 activities of TAP including 1) Use of LEDs, 2) Improving ISO50001 power management, 3) Solar PV installation on roofs, 4) Burning biomass to generate heat, 5) Conversion of plastic waste to fuel, 6) Composting, 7) Reuse of treated wastewater, 8) Installation of water-saving clocks and water-saving cleaning equipment, 9) Filtering rainwater from roofs and 10) Disaster management plan.

The TNA project is supported by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the Climate Smart Initiative.

“TNA will provide a good opportunity for Cambodia to raise funds for climate change response activities, as well as contribute to the sustainable development of Sihanoukville and transform Sihanoukville into an environmentally friendly multi-purpose economic zone”, said HE Vann Monyneath, General Director of Strategy and Policy of MoE at the workshop.
