Mondulkiri Landowners Instructed to Build Fence or Path Around Lands to Prevent Encroachment

Mondolkiri Provincial Governor Svay Sam Eang has instructed all concessional landowners or companies to build paths or fences around their investment lands to prevent illegal encroachment and unexpected disputes.

HE Sam Eang made the statement during a site inspection of the Pacific York Stock Company Limited encroachment case on 9 May.

“Marking borders in form of path or fence is very essential to prevent encroachment. Thus, all landowners, and the investing companies in particular, shall do it,” said HE Sam Eang.

“Besides, all landowners must follow other guidelines issued by the authorities; otherwise the government will not be responsible for any issues caused by being ignorant,” he added.

On this occasion, he also ordered local authorities to strengthen the crackdown on illegal natural park and state land encroachments.

Regarding this matter, the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction and the Mondulkiri provincial administration are also currently speeding up progress on the land-use masterplan in Mondulkiri.

Upon completion, this masterplan will hopefully help regulate and prevent land disputes in the province and also make use of land in the province more effective. (Read more)
