MPWT Calls for Shipping Sector Companies to Attend New Port EDI System Seminar

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has called for all shipowners, ship agencies, and other related firms to attend a training course on how to use the new port management system—Port EDI.

According to the ministry announcement on 4 March, the training will be conducted by system developers to help the private sector adapt and learn the new inbound and outbound ship navigation procedures at the checkpoint.

Companies can register for this training until 14 March 2022.

According to the plan, after the system testing and training course, the system will be officially launched at the end of 2022.

The Port EDI system is a large-scale modernisation of Cambodia’s port control and checkpoint system by switching from manual physical paperwork to a computer and online system.

The current inbound and outbound ship navigation procedures are time-consuming and complicated. Thus, MPWT is hoping that the new Port EDI system will ease the procedure to work more effectively and transparently. (Read more)
