MPWT to Host EVs & Related Technology Showcasing Event on 26 March

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) will host an event to introduce electric vehicles (EVs) and related technologies to the public this upcoming Saturday 26 March at the ministry.

The event will gather manufacturers of EVs, electric motorcycles, and other development partners to showcase their technology to the public and discuss the investment in the future.

The event is part of the government’s policy to encourage Cambodians to use more electric vehicles as the ministry continues to work with partners to build supporting infrastructures.

According to the plan, at least 10 EV charging stations will be built and put into operation nationwide by the end of 2022.

Minister of Public and Transport HE Sun Chanthol said on 22 March that under the cooperation with UNPD, one station will be built at the Ministry of Public Works, and three others in Battambang, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, respectively.

“Gas stations such as Caltex, Total, and PTT have also agreed to build EV charging stations at their petrol stations. So we hope to have at least 10 EV charging stations in Cambodia by the end of this year,” he added.
