MPWT to Implement 43 Infrastructure Enhancement Projects across Border Checkpoints Nationwide

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) plans to develop 43 infrastructure enhancement projects at international land borders nationwide to reduce congestion and boost trades at those borders.

The plan was revealed during the second meeting of the National Logistics Council joined by MPTW, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and other relevant officials on 26 October.

MPWT Minister HE Sun Chanthol said that the ministry has cooperated with relevant institutions to study and prepare 43 projects to develop both hard and soft infrastructure at all targeted borders.

The MPWT has been thus far upgrading many international border checkpoints, including Bavet-Mok Bai, Poipet-Aranyaprathet, Stung Bot-Ban Nong Ean and Prey Val-Binh Heap.

Meanwhile, construction of the new US$6 million ‘Prey Vor’ Cambodia-Vietnam border checkpoint in Svay Rieng province has been completed and is temporarily open for service. (Read more)

The same meeting also discussed the completion of the draft agreement between Cambodia and Singapore regarding the development of Phnom Penh Logistics Center. (Read more)
