National Road 3 (Phnom Penh-Kampot) will cost more than US$219 million

With an approximately more than US$219 million will be used to construct a National Road 3 (Phnom Penh-Kampot), the road is believed to be high quality and long term of use. The budget of implementing this project came from the concession financing from the People’s Republic of China, together with the Royal Government of Cambodia according to Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

A company that will construct the National Road 3 is known as China Road Bridge Corporation, and technically inspection by Construction Technician Company Guangzhou Van An with a period of 48 months.

H.E Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of Public Works and Transport said during the inspection of the condition of National Road 3 that by the end of the rainy season, this National Road 3 will be built as AC road with long-lasting quality which can be used for up to 12 years. There will also be a temporary repair to ease traffic.

National Road 3 (Phnom Penh – Kampot) has a total length of 134,796 km, with 69 km from Chaom Chau to Bekkous and with 65,796 km from Bekkous to Kampot town.

The Minister also requested that the construction company to continue watering the road frequently during construction so that it is easier for people to travel, reduce dust to people who may catch disease or cause accidents during travelling.

National Road 3 will be temporarily repaired for about 20km by the end of December in order to host two big events, including Sea Festival in Kampot which will occur from 27 to 29 December 2019 and the International Cycling from Koh Kong to Kep which Cambodia will be the host in January 2020.
