Work on NR10 connecting Cambodia-Thai border to Sihanoukville to start soon

Construction work on National Road No.10 connecting the Cambodia-Thai border to Sihanoukville is set to start soon to help facilitate travel and the transportation of goods, according to the Minister of Public Works and Transport H.E Sun Chanthol.

Speaking during a ground-breaking ceremony on a road in Sihanoukville on 20 August H.E Sun Chanthol said that National Road No.10 will connect the Samlaut area of Battambang as a corridor to Pursat to Koh Kong and then to Sihanoukville through National Road No. 48.

The government has to date been working on a loan request to the People’s Republic of China for the construction of this road. People living in Koh Kong will not find it difficult to travel to Pursat and to Battambang as they will no longer need to come to Phnom Penh through National Road No.4. (Read more)

H.E Sun Chanthol said that the new route will reduce traveling time and especially reduce the cost of logistics which is currently quite high.

In addition to this project, the ministry is also studying the feasibility to expand National Road No. 48 connecting Koh Kong to Sre Ambel for which some places will need to expand from 2 to 4 lanes, along about 22 kilometres.
