After more than one year of renovation, work on National Road No.3 is almost 70% complete but the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) will refuses to accept it if the road quality is not good enough to meet the standard and will request the company to fix it.

Based on the inspection results from Kampot town to Veal Renh roundabout led by H.E Sun Chanthol, Minister of MPWT on 13 June, construction of National Road No.3 is 67.5% complete and is scheduled to be completed in August 2019.

However, the ministry noted on its Facebook Page that based on the inspection, some sections of the road do not meet the technical standards with cracks and potholes in some areas that require immediate action.

In addition, H.E Sun Chanthol strictly ordered the construction company to review and fix the technical standards so that the ministry can accept it in order to achieve the goal of the government to build a long-lasting quality road.

“The Ministry of Public Works and Transport as well as the Royal Government of Cambodia, are strict with our principle of stop taking roads with continuous construction, but take a robust road,” H.E Sun Chanthol said.

The renovation began in February 2018 and will take 54 months to implement with 18 months for implementation and 36 months for maintenance using about US12.061 million from a World Bank loan.
