Olympia Mall set for 2nd phase in 2020 to attract 50,000 visitors daily

Cambodia’s leading developer Overseas Cambodia Investment Corporation (OCIC) will expand its Olympia Mall in 7 Makara district in 2020 hoping to attract around 50,000 visitors daily.

Following the success of the launch of the first phase in June 2019, OCIC is constructing a second phase that will bring the total floor area to 12,000 square metres per floor or about 84,000 square metres across all 7 floors.

Mr Sao Monasy, leasing manager of Olympia Mall said on 17 September that construction of the second phase is scheduled to be completed in April 2020 and will open in the fourth quarter of 2020. The company expects that upon completion, the mall can attract between 40,000 to 50,000 people daily while currently it can attract around 20,000 visitors daily.

In the second phase, the company will focus on F&B, popular local and international brands of handbags, jewellery and cosmetic products that will attract both middle and high-end customers. With the second phase coming online, Olympia Mall will have around 250 units of leasing space, compared to its current capacity of 100 units.

According to Mr Sao Monasy, the company will make the mall more attractive with the creation of new designs that have yet to be seen in Cambodia.

“We have entertainment and we have a management company from Taiwan which has successful experience in Taiwan. We will improve the quality of service so that we can grow, this is what we want and are doing now,” he said.

With Olympia Mall being surrounded by a 53-storey building, 38-storey hotel, and residential buildings, Mr Sao Monasy said this added more attraction to the mall in addition to the Cambodia’s first skybridge for pedestrian crossing to the mall and the prime location.

When the second phase is opened, the Olympia Mall will have a family theatre, a beautiful open space, a swimming pool overlooking the National Olympic Stadium, a gym, a playground, a garden, a glass bridge and more designed facilities.
