Pavement Works Officially Begin for Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway

The construction of the US$2-billion Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway has taken another step forward, as the pavement work is already underway, according to the Facebook page of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway on 10 May.

The same source said that the road is being paved with durable asphalt concrete or known as ATB-25, and the actual pavement has begun after the engineers completed the test segment in March.

The source did not mention the progress of the project; however, according to the latest figures, the project has achieved about 40% to 50%.

The construction project of the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway began on March 22, 2019. This 190-kilometre road is being built by Cambodian PPSHV Expressway Co., Ltd. and will take 48 months to complete.

Ministry of Public Works and Transport spokesman Vasim Sorya said in late April that the project is going smoothly as scheduled and does not affect by the curfew and lockdowns. (Read more)
