Pm Inaugurates Opening of National Road 1, Stage 4 Improvement

Cambodia Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen this morning presided over the inauguration ceremony for the official opening of the National Road No. 1 improvement project Stage 4 for use.

The improved section of road is about 4 kilometres long running from Monivong bridge (sta.0+000) to the Kdey Ta Koi area in Chbar Ampov (sta.4+000). This is the last stage of the National Road No.1 improvement project under grant aid from the government of Japan.

The total budget of for this section was USD 23 million of which USD16 million was grant aid from the government of Japan and USD7.67million is from the Cambodian government.

“National Road No. 1 is a very important road, as it is a part of the ASEAN Highway. I am very glad that we have reached the final state of this upgrade and improvement. I really appreciate and give very big thanks to the government of Japan for the help,” said the prime minister at the ceremony.

“This improvement can help ease traffic a lot on National Road No. 1 especially the section from Phnom Penh to Kandal province. Both motorists moving in to and out from Phnom Penh will have more convenience,” he added.
