Gov’t Plans to Build US$200m Bridge Connecting NR1, Lvea Em & PP-Bavet Expressway

The Cambodian government plans to build a new US$200-million bridge connecting NR1 to Lvea Em and to the upcoming Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway.

Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen said on 12 December that passengers can cross this bridge free of charge from NR1 to Lvea Em and especially to the new Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway.

“Since the bridge is part of the new Phnom Penh-Bavet expressway, passengers must be charged to use the bridge. However, we want to ease the expense burden on those who use the bridge only that is why we won’t charge for using the bridge,” said PM Hun Sen.

The Phnom Penh-Bavet Expressway will have a total length of 138 km, passing through Kandal, Prey Veng, and Svay Rieng provinces before reaching the Bavet border crossing with Vietnam. The construction is expected to cost  US$1.6 billion.

The construction of this expressway is set to begin in mid-2023. (Read more)
