Private Firm Accelerating Feasibility of 100-megawatt Wind Power Project in Mondulkiri

A private firm is speeding up the feasibility study on a 100-megawatt wind turbine power project in Mondulkiri province on both the technical and financial details, according to a senior official at the Minister of Mines and Energy.

Xinglan Maritime Energy Co., Ltd was granted a permit letter from the ministry to conduct a feasibility study on the wind power project in Mondulkiri province in 2019, said Ministry of Mines and Energy spokesman HE Victor Jona.

“For now, the firm is wrapping up its report. Once finished, the firm will submit the final one to the ministry for approval. However, it is not at commercial investment stage, yet,” said HE Jona.

Xinglan Maritime Energy Co., Ltd is a joint venture between local Maritime Group and China’s renewable energy firm-Xinglan Group.

To date, the firm has installed two 100-metre high wind measurement pillars in Senmonorom district and O’raing Ov district of Mondulkiri province.

Besides Xinglan Maritime Energy’s wind energy project, Blue Circle is also working on a 80-megawatt wind energy project in Kampot province. (Read more)
