Private Firm Proposes 3-hectare Wastewater Treatment Plant in New Sihanoukville SEZ

A private company is studying the impact of a project to build four wastewater treatment plants on 3 hectares of land in a new Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, according to a meeting between Sihanoukville Deputy Governor Chhin Seng Nguon and the firm on 23 February.

This project was proposed by RTM Green Consultancy Co, Ltd with Ms Lok Kim Hiek as its representative. If approved, the project will be built in a new special economic zone located in Veal village of Kampong Seila district.

In response, Deputy Governor Seng Nguon also instructed the company to study the location and population properly, install automatic machines to check the final quality, and collect enough data before sending the technical team to assess the project site.

In addition to this project, Sihanoukville also has another large-scale wastewater treatment plant worth more than US$140 million, which is currently under construction. As of January, the project was about 48%. (Read more)
