Renovation completed of international standard Olympic Stadium swimming pool

The renovation of the international standard swimming pool at the Olympic Stadium, costing nearly US$3 million, has been completed.

The statement was delivered by H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Public Works and Transport and President of the Khmer Swimming Federation during the inspection of progress on construction of the swimming pool at the Olympic Stadium on 23 April 2020.

He said that the construction of the swimming pool at the Olympic Stadium took 18 months to complete and cost almost US$3 million funded by Shanghai Construction Company.

He added that the construction included both the renovation and expansion of the swimming pool and diving area. In addition, the pumps, water purifiers, and more than 1600 seats were upgraded as well as additional training rooms.

He called on all youth across the nation to take part in free-swimming training in preparation to win medals for the upcoming SEA Games, which Cambodia will host in 2023.

Currently, Cambodia has swimming pools in Kampong Cham and at the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex and the newly completed- Koh Thom stadium swimming pool, which are ready for the upcoming 2023 SEA Games. (Read more)
