Samdech Hun Sen: National Road No.2 Nearing Construction

In order to facilitate trade as well as attract more investors, the government is preparing for the ground breaking of the rehabilitation of National Road No.2, according to SamdechTecho Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia.

Speaking at a meeting with factory workers in Takeo province on January 9, 2019, SamdechTecho Hun Sen said that construction on National Road No.2 will soon begin.

SamdechTecho Hun Sen said that the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) has currently been preparing to break ground on National Road No.2 and National Road No. 22 which will provide increased connectivity for the nation while also making it easier for exporting goods.

“The government needs to make an effort in order to upgrade necessary infrastructure to make it convenient for investors to invest. Our roads are not enough, that is why we need to expand National Road No.3, 2, and 22 to attract more investment,” he said.

The project for the construction and rehabilitation of National Road No. 2 has been studied for many years but was delayed due to not having enough budget. In addition,a deal for compensation for those people living along the road has yet to be reached.
