Siem Reap, JICA Accelerate Smart City Project Masterplan Progress

The Siem Reap Provincial Administration and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have discussed the progress of the smart city master plan, to accelerate implementation.

The discussion focusing on technical cooperation was chaired by Siem Reap Governor HE Tea Seiha and JICA (Cambodia) Director Kamei Haruko.

In the decision, the two parties also agreed to begin technical cooperation on four main areas including Smart Tourism, Smart Security, Smart Mobility and Management, and Smart Waste Management.

The provincial administration had requested JICA to help study this project since 2019. In 2020, JICA sent its study team to conduct preliminary studies and also to gather information.

Besides JICA, Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport, and Tourism (MLIT) will also implement two projects including the Smart City Data Collection and Analysis project, and CCTV System Introduction. (Read more)
