Thai Boon Roong Twin Towers Break Ground on First Phase

Thai Boon Roong Twin Tower

The management team of 133-storey Thai Boon Roong Twin Tower World Trade Center project on 19 March presided over the ground breaking ceremony of the first phase of construction.

According to a co-architect of the project Tous Saphoeun, this was the ground breaking ceremony of the underground structure construction and building wall to prevent landslides.

“As the building is located nearby the river, we have to re-landscape the underground structure by building walls to prevent landslides before starting the actual building construction,” Mr Saphoeun told Construction & Property Magazine.

“This part will be completed within one year. After then, we will start the actual construction of the building, and we will have the official groundbreaking ceremony again,” he added.

Located in the heart of Phnom Penh opposite the NagaWorld Casino along the Mekong River, Thai Boon Roong Twin Tower Trade Center will be built on five hectares of land, stretch 560 metres high, and will become the highest building in ASEAN if completed.

The project is to be jointly developed by local firm Thai Boon Roong Group and a Chinese contractor at an estimated cost about USD 3 billion.
