Thailand’s Paper Tree Eyes Expansion in Cambodia’s Horticultural Industry for Export

Paper Tree (Cambodia) Co., Ltd, a Thai company, has revealed its plans to register as a qualified investor in Cambodia’s tree industry, focusing on horticultural production for export. This announcement came during a meeting between Mr Yuenyong Subsaud, Director of Paper Tree (Cambodia) Co., Ltd, and HE Nuth Un Vanra, Deputy Secretary-General of Cambodia’s Investment Committee, held on 15 March.

Mr. Yuenyong Subsaud outlined the company’s ongoing investments in Cambodia’s tree planting sector, particularly in border provinces, including nursery establishment, tree planting, factory setup, and wood chip production for export. He also expressed the company’s intent to register its projects with the Council for the Development of Cambodia and collaborate with local investors to expand industrial timber plantations in Cambodia.

In response, Deputy Secretary-General Nuth Unvanra welcomed the company’s investment plans and guided registration procedures, as well as incentives and protections available for investors in Cambodia.

Additionally, during the meeting, Deputy Secretary-General Nuth Unvanra engaged with representatives from China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and Cambodian Natural Gas Company. CNOOC expressed interest in exploring investment opportunities in Cambodia’s gas supply infrastructure, including storage facilities, distribution networks, and gas-fired power plants, aiming to address Cambodia’s future energy needs.
