GOV’t Announces Waiver of Three Key Construction and Land Fees

In a groundbreaking move aimed at promoting the growth of the construction and land sectors, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, together with the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, has announced the exemption of three significant public service fees. This notable development is in accordance with the Inter-Ministerial Proclamation No. 312 សហវ.ប្រក.អទច issued on 22nd May 2023.

The waived public services encompass vital areas of the industry, including:

  • the provision of construction principles and land development principles, issuance of construction permits, and construction permits exceeding the official maximum land use index level. Notably, these exemptions apply to applications pertaining to the construction of private hospitals, private school buildings, and affordable housing. This measure aims to facilitate the advancement of essential infrastructure and contribute to the overall development of the nation.
  • Additionally, the initial registration of the private portion of co-ownership buildings for affordable housing development projects will be exempt from fees. This initiative serves as a catalyst for fostering the construction of affordable housing, thereby addressing the pressing need for accessible and sustainable residential solutions.
  • Furthermore, the government’s decision to waive fees associated with providing the first measurement certificate for surveyors who are civil servants underlines its commitment to supporting professionals in the field. By easing financial burdens in this regard, the government encourages the continued excellence and proficiency of surveyors, which directly contributes to the accuracy and reliability of land measurements.

The government’s proactive approach towards waiving these key fees not only stimulates growth in the construction and land sectors but also promotes investment, innovation, and social welfare. This significant measure will undoubtedly bolster economic progress and empower the industry stakeholders to drive Cambodia towards a prosperous future.
