Netherlands Unveils Solar Powered Self-Sustaining Mobile Home

The Netherlands has unveiled an innovation of the first solar-powered mobile home, called Stella Vita, reported GCR.

The innovation was developed by the Eindhoven University of Technology, which they dubbed a “self-sustaining house on wheels”.

Stella Vita can generate solar energy independent of charging stations while allowing passengers to shower, watch TV, charge their laptops and make coffee.

During sunny days, Stella Vita will have enough solar power to travel up to 730km.

Besides, the home also contains a roof that slides up when stationary, allowing space for passengers to stand and adding extra room for reclining or cooking.

When the roof is raised, extrasolar panels can fold out, doubling the generating surface to 17.5 sq m.

A pilot project is set to begin soon by a group of Eindhoven University students travelling from Eindhoven to the southernmost tip of Spain.
