Two Institutions Unite to Bolster Cambodia’s Rural Economy

In a significant move to enhance local enterprises and support the rural economy, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries has joined forces with the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The event took place as part of the Program for Supporting Rural Economy and Trade in Agricultural Products (ASPIRE-AT).

The MoU aims to strengthen the capacities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) involved in processing and trading agricultural products. This collaboration is anticipated to create a more robust agricultural value chain, benefitting not just the businesses but also the farmers and the private sector at large.

During the signing ceremony, officials from both institutions highlighted the importance of this partnership in addressing key challenges facing the agricultural sector. The Ministry of Agriculture expressed its commitment to developing the sector to maintain food security, enhance the national economy, and improve the livelihoods of citizens. Efforts will focus on integrating modern technology and machinery into agricultural practices to foster growth.

Moreover, the collaboration will be crucial in navigating a landscape where much of the agricultural production is oriented towards cash and trade. The MoU signals a promising step toward revitalizing Cambodia’s rural economy, creating sustainable opportunities, and ensuring the prosperity of local communities.
