Usd17m National Road No 3 and 7 Upgrades to Start in April

The Minister of Public Works and Transportation (MPWT) yesterday signed a contract with Sichuan Road and Bridge (Group) Corporation Ltd for a USD16.9 million project to upgrade and maintain parts of National Roads No. 3 and 7 under the Road Asset Management Project II (RAMP II).

Under a loan from the World Bank, RAMP II is worth a total of USD60 million dollars and will be used to upgrade and maintain 218 kilometres of the two national roads.

RAMP II consists of four packages with the road sections falling under the project including Kampot-Veal Renh on National Road No. 3 and Thnal Totueng – Kratie City on National Road No. 7. The upgrades will include changing the asphalt type from DBST to AC and the construction of drainage systems alongside both roads to avoid flooding during the rainy season.

Sichuan Road and Bridge (Group) Corporation Ltd will responsible for packages 1 and 3 for a total of 111.3 kilometres of road worth USD16.9 million. The remaining packages are under the responsibility of Guangdong Provincial Changda Highway Engineering Co Ltd which signed a contract in December 2017.

The whole project is expected to be fully completed by September 2022, a total of 54 months with 18 months for upgrading and 36 months for maintenance.
