Usd200 Million China Assistance Saught for Koh Kong-battambang Road

H.E. Xiong Bo, China ambassador to Cambodia talked to PM Hun Sen at the inauguration ceremony

Chinese assistance will be saught by the Cambodian government to build the priority project of a new road connecting Koh Kong to Samlot in Battambang, according to Cambodian prime minister Samdech Hun Sen.

The premier made the comments during the official inauguration of a 248.53km stretch of National Road 6 linking Thnal Keng in Kampong Cham province to Ang Krong in Siem Reap province on 11 June.

“I am going to submit a prioritized road construction project from Koh Kong province to Thmar Dar in Pursat and to Samlot in Battambang for this year or next year financial support from the Government of China”, said the prime minister during the ceremony which was attended by H. E. Xiong Bo, Ambassador to Cambodia in Kampong Thom province.

Samdech Hun Sen stated that the Koh Kong-Thmar Dar-Samlot road would be about 200km long and would cost around USD200 million. He added that this road construction is part of the important plan to develop the area to link Cambodia to the Thai border.
