Waste Management Facility Launched in Kampot province

Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation, a subsidiary of local conglomerate Chip Mong Group, launched a new industrial waste management facility. It will provide an environmentally friendly solution to disposing of industrial waste.

Chip Mong Ecocycle facility was launched on December 5 and held under the presence of H.E. Say Sam El, Minister of Environment. It is located in Banteay Meas district, Kampot province. The Chip Mong Ecocycle Unit can process some 10 tonnes of industrial waste per hour or more than 7,000 tonnes per month, according to a press release from the Ministry of Environment. It is part of a joint-venture, with Chip Mong Group holding 60 per cent and Thailand’s Siam City Cement Corporation (SCCC) holding 40 per cent.

Leang Khun, chairman of Chip Mong Insee Corporation, which owns the biggest share of Chip Mong Ecocycle, said that his company is proud of being a part in the country’s first-ever sustainable industrial waste management. According to Mr Leang Khun, the Chip Mong Ecocycle investment cost US$ 4 million.

H.E. Say Sam El said that the investment of Chip Mong Group on the new sector such as waste management project is to contribute to promoting the environment.
