171 Families Affected by New Phnom Penh Airport Development Receive New Homes

A total of 171 families affected by the new Phnom Penh international airport development have officially received their new houses in a new location under an exchange agreement.

Held on the morning of 21 May, the handover ceremony was presided over by Director General of the Housing Department at the MLMUPC HE Benghong Socheat Khemro, Cambodia Airport Investment Co Ltd Deputy Director Mr Charles Vann, and Kandal Provincial Governor HE Kong Sophoan.

Mr Charles Vann said that this project is a donation from Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen through Oknha Pung Kheav Se to the people living on Dam number 54, 92 and 94, which are the construction area of the new airport.

Located in Kampong Talon village, Boeung Khyang commune, Kandal Steung district, Kandal province, each family received a new 5m x 8m concrete house on a 5m x 20m plot.

The project also includes a 1.9km-long and 8-metre wide entrance road, clean water, and electricity.

Built with a budget of US$1.1 million, the construction project started in mid-2020 and was completed in January 2021.
