60-megawatt Solar Station in Battambang Province Starts Generating Power

A 60-megawatt solar power plant in Battambang province has begun generating power and linked to the grid, according to a senior official from the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Located in Anlong Run commune of Tmarkoul district, the power plant is worth US$50-million invested in by Risen Energy Co Ltd, and is one among other projects approved by the government in 2019.

Ministry of Mines and Energy’s spokesman HE Victor Jona said that the plant is not only linked to the grid but also transmitting power to nearby locations for household use.

“This plant plays a very significant power sources mixture in Cambodia by producing more clean energy,” HE Victor Jona said.

“Besides, this project is also a part of the government’s masterplan to produce a total of 450-megawatts renewably by 2022. To date, many solar plants are operating, which already contribute approximately 320 megawatts to the grid,” he added.
