Chint Group plans to build electrical components factory for the energy sector

China-based electrical components manufacturer Chint Group plans to set up a factory in Cambodia to serve the energy sector, according to a Facebook post by Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen.

The plan was announced during a meeting between Samdech Techo Hun Sen and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Chint Group on 18 September 2019 at the Peace Palace.

The company plans to construct a high-technology electrical components factory for the energy sector including voltage transformers, solar panels, and other electrical components.

The investment, according to the same post, will help protect the environment and save on electricity usage.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen welcomed the project saying that “Chint Group’s efforts to invest in Cambodia are indicative of a strategic business partnership in line with the comprehensive strategic partnership between Cambodia and China”.

Besides this project, the company has also successfully invested in the Tatai hydropower project and is looking at ongoing investment opportunities.

“Cambodia has a peaceful and stable political environment, including socio-economic growth, which gives companies more confidence to continue investing in Cambodia to help develop Cambodia,” said Nan Cunhui.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also said that investment in the electricity sector is an important contribution to the development of the country in line with the four national strategies, which include human resources, roads, electricity and water.

In addition, besides supporting the above project, Samdech Techo Hun Sen advised the company to invest not only to serve the Cambodian market but also to export to other markets.
