Chinese Companies Seeks Investment Opportunity in Tile and Brick Materials

China Brick and Tile Industry Association said some Chinese companies plan to invest in Cambodia to produce tile and brick for construction as this sector is booming.

Association president Xu Yanming raised the investment plan in a meeting with H.E. Cham Prasidh, Senior Minister and Minister of Industry and Handicraft on December 13.

According to a post at the ministry’s Facebook, Ms Xu said that Cambodia’s construction sector is growing rapidly and have attracted interests from Chinese companies.

Chinese companies are seeking supports from the Cambodian government on the investment plan on producing tile and brick for construction.

H.E. Cham Prasidh told the delegation about the potential and favorable investment on building material production in Cambodia due to Cambodia is growing strongly on the sector.

H.E. Cham Prasidh said although there are factories and handicrafts are producing tile and brick in Cambodia, Cambodia still imports those materials to supply the growing demand.

“If products of Chinese companies in the Association are quality in line with standard, they will have market in Cambodia because it helps reducing the imports of those materials from abroad and they also have chance to make export to abroad under the Cambodia’s trade preference scheme,” H.E. Cham Prasidh said.
