PM Hun Sen inaugurates NR55 connecting Pursat to Thai border

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen and the Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian together presided over the inauguration ceremony for the official opening of the National Road No. 55 connecting Pursat to Thailand border on 9 March 2020.

Following construction by the China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC), the road has a total length of 180 kilometres and a width of 9 meters, linking National Road 5 (from section 191+150) to the Thai-Cambodian border at Trat province.

Construction was financed by the government of the People’s Republic of China, along with a Cambodian government’s budget contribution, totalling approximately US$132.8 million.

During the ceremony, Samdech Hun Sen said he would transform the former battlefield areas, like Veal Vong district, into a developed regional market as well as transforming the neighbouring border into friendly, peaceful, and cooperative border areas.

Samdech Techo also presided over the groundbreaking ceremony of the National Road 10 construction project, which links Battambang to Koh Kong. (Read More)
