Korea approves request for an additional loan to upgrade National Road 48

The Korean government has approved a Cambodian request for an additional loan to rehabilitate National Road 48 and in preparation for signing an MoU on 24 April 2020 prior to the opening of public bidding.

The agreement was announced at a meeting on the request for an additional loan for National Road 48 between representatives of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) and representatives from the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) of the Republic of Korea on 22 April 2020.

H.E So Victor, Secretary of State of Ministry of Public Works and Transport said, “The Korean government has already approved the request for an additional loan for this renovation project. Now, the MPWT and the Ministry of Economy and Finance will carefully review the agreement draft before signing on 24 April 22020 and further proceed for bidding.”

The renovation of the 150km National Road 28 from Sre Ambel to Koh Kong Province will cost US$67 million under the Korea government loan. (Read more)

This project is to renovate from a DBST type road to AC type with higher quality in order to boost transportation infrastructure as a path to economic growth and facilitate local commuting and reduce poverty as a government priority measure.
