Bassac River Bridge in Chak Angre Krom–Prek Pra Reaches 51% Completion

As of October 28, 2025, construction of the Bassac River Crossing Bridge connecting Chak Angre Krom to Prek Pra has reached 51% completion, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT).

A recent on-site inspection led by His Excellency Suong Heng, Secretary of State and Project Director, revealed steady progress across key construction components:

Bridge foundation: 91.62% complete, including 156 foundation pillars, 148 pillars, 20 footings, 16 lower connecting beams, and 12 beams—all fully completed.

Substructure: 68.91% complete, comprising 12 bridge piers (100%), 52 piers (40%), and 34 head connecting beams (23%).

Superstructure: 23% complete.

Connection road: 1.7% complete.

Traffic diversion road: 4% complete.

According to MPWT, the project has so far used 20 months of its 42-month construction schedule, equivalent to 47.62% progress, remaining fully on track for completion by the end of 2027.

The bridge project was officially inaugurated on February 19, 2024, under the high chairmanship of Prime Minister Hun Sen and His Excellency Wang Wentian, former Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia. (Read more)

Once completed, the Bassac River Crossing Bridge will play a key role in easing traffic congestion on the Monivong Bridge, improving connectivity between National Road 1, Chbar Ampov District, and Techo International Airport in Takhmao City, while strengthening socio-economic links between Phnom Penh and southern regions.
