Tbong Khmum to Host New Museum Built in Ancient Khmer Architectural Design

Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction HE Chea Sophara broke ground on 19 June on a new museum in Tbong Khmum province, marking another achievement in addition to the nearly-completed administrative complex.

Located in Koh Thmor village, Tonlong commune, Memot district, the museum is called the ‘Koh Thmor Museum’, is built in ancient Khmer architectural design, and will serve as a historical tourist site that will help future generations remember PM Hun Sen’s national liberation mission.

“The museum will display documents and artefacts showcasing how PM Hun Sen overthrew the Pol Pot regime so that the future generations can remember and appreciate scarifications,” said HE Chea Sophara.

Besides the museum, Tbong Khmum provincial authorities are also speeding up the construction of a new historical monument, aimed at transforming the Cambodia-Vietnam border area of X-16 into a historical tourist site. (Read more)
