Major Infrastructure Plan Set for New Development Zone in Banteay Srei District

The new Run Ta Ek development zone in Siem Reap’s Banteay Srei district will soon welcome a whole new set of infrastructure as the inter-ministerial committee are speeding up the works on the masterplan preparation.

This new development was proposed to host over 560 families who moved from downtown Siem Reap as their residences were affected by the 38-road renovation project.

According to an official meeting to review the infrastructure masterplan and evaluate the property price in Run Ta Ek village last week, the plan includes the construction of an administrative complex, schools, health centres, markets, a religious building, public parks and residential areas to ease the daily livelihoods of those families.

Deputy Governor of Siem Reap Province Mr Ngan Phirun said to ensure the quality of the development, the masterplan and the implementation are carefully studied by many relevant institutions including the Ministry of Land Management, Provincial Administration, APSARA Authority, and the Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts, among others.

According to the statistics, there are a total of 564 families who volunteered to relocate from Siem Reap to Run Ta Ek village. Among which, 430 families used to live along Siem Reap River, 115 used to live in unregulated buildings in town, and the remaining 19 used to live on affected streets. (Read more)
