Twin Flyovers Near Completion at Phnom Penh-Kandal Border

The construction of the Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet flyover, connecting Phnom Penh and Kandal province, has reached an impressive milestone with 85% of the project completed. The latest update comes as the twin flyovers advance toward the final stages of construction.

A significant ceremony marking the connection of the bridge body was held on 9 June 2025, presided over by HE Khuong Sreng, Governor of Phnom Penh, alongside various officials involved in the project.

According to Sam Piseth, Director of the Phnom Penh Department of Public Works and Transport, the flyover leading from Phnom Penh to Techo International Airport is expected to be fully operational by the end of June, while the route from Techo International Airport back to Phnom Penh is slated for completion by the end of July 2025.

These twin flyovers represent state-of-the-art American concrete bridge design (I-beam), extending over 622 metres in total. The first bridge offers a one-way road stretching along Samdech Techo Hun Sen Boulevard, crossing National Road 2 toward Techo International Airport. The second bridge provides a one-way route in the opposite direction, facilitating effective traffic flow from the airport back to the capital.

Initiated by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet on 17 June 2024, the construction of this vital infrastructure project is backed by the Royal Government, with a total budget of USD 16.2 million. The Cambodian Overseas Investment Company (OCIC) is tasked with the construction, which is expected to wrap up within a 12-month timeframe.

As the completion date approaches, the new flyovers are anticipated to significantly enhance transportation efficiency in the region, alleviating congestion and fostering better connectivity between Phnom Penh and Kandal province.
